Study your way

Living outside of a big city doesn't mean you can't access the best in real-world education.

Study in a way that suits you - in Brisbane at one of our vibrant campuses, or online with the knowledge that you’re joining a community of students from around Australia and the world.

Moving to Brisbane

Moving away from home is a big step but many of our students say it's the best decision they ever made.

QUT has two inner-city campuses in the middle of all the action. Whether you study at our Gardens Point or Kelvin Grove campus, or across both, will depend on the course you choose. Both campuses are well serviced by convenient public transport, and are connected by a free intercampus shuttle bus.

There are many accommodation options near our campuses, including student residential complexes, residential colleges and agent-operated student accommodation.

If you're looking for a place to live in Brisbane, QUT Accommodation Service can help you.

Study online

If you have work or family commitments or want to stay living in your home town, QUT offers many courses fully or partially online for people who live outside Brisbane.

You’ll still learn from the best, but you’ll have the flexibility to fit your study around the rest of your life.

In some online courses, you may still be required to attend in person for specific activities such as a learning intensive, assessment or work placement at a specified location but you'll still be able to study online for most of the course. Check the course information for more detail.

Regional University Study Hubs

Many towns around Australia have a Regional University Study Hub - a campus-like facility to support you while you study university online or during a placement or internship.

You can connect with other students and have access to study spaces, fast internet, computers, printers, meeting rooms and social spaces. Their staff can help you build your academic skills and navigate university systems and processes.

Best of all, their services are free.

Admission pathways

For most undergraduate courses you're selected based on your ATAR or selection rank.

If you don't have an ATAR, you may have a selection rank based on other Year 12 school results, any past vocational and educational training (VET), higher education or work experience.

If your ATAR or selection rank is not high enough, there may be a pathway to your chosen course.

For postgraduate courses, entry is usually based on past study or work experience.

ATAR and selection rank adjustments

Your ATAR or selection rank can be boosted by 2.00 points through the Regional and Remote Student Access Scheme, making you more competitive for a course offer.

You might also be eligible for other rank adjustments, up to a maximum of 10.00 points across multiple schemes.

Pathways and bridging programs

There are many pathways to QUT if you don't meet the entry requirements.

Our diplomas and undergraduate certificates guarantee you a place in a related QUT bachelor degree with credit for the units you have completed.

Our free University Preparation Program will build your academic skills and give you a selection rank you can use to apply for entry into any QUT undergraduate degree.

We also offer bridging units in mathematics so you can meet the subject prerequisites or assumed knowledge requirements for certain courses.
