Your CSP questions answered

What is a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)?

A CSP is a place at a university or higher education provider where the government pays part of your fees. This subsidy is not a loan, and you don’t have to pay it back. It covers a large portion of your study fees. The remaining portion is called the ‘student contribution amount’, which you need to pay, either through a HECS-HELP loan or your own means.

How much can I save?

The fee varies depending on the course you decide to study. Choosing one of our postgraduate CSP courses above can reduce the cost of your fees by more than 60% per year, full time.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for a CSP, you must be a domestic student and satisfy one of the following residency requirements:

  • Australian citizen, and will undertake at least one unit of study in Australia that contributes to your course of study.
  • New Zealand citizen, living in Australia for the teaching period, unless your course requires you to live elsewhere.
  • Holder of an Australian permanent visa (including humanitarian visa holders), and living in Australia for the teaching period, unless your course requires you to live elsewhere.

When can I apply for CSP?

Applications are currently open for our July intake and applications close Mondau 30 June 2025. Find a course that best meets your study and career goals, and apply today.
