Tuition fees
As a study abroad student, you’ll typically pay tuition fees directly to QUT based on your academic load. In 2026:
- 3 units (36 credit points or 22.5 ECTS) is AU$9,504
- 4 units (48 credit points or 30 ECTS) is AU$12,672
These fees include tuition, administration, student support services, and a secure digital copy of your academic record. However, this does not include items such as travel, accommodation, meals, books, living costs, or Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
If you are enrolled at one of our exchange partner institutions and are nominated by your home institution, you won't need to pay any tuition fees.

Student Visa Support Scholarship
If you’re on a student visa for your Study Abroad semester, you’ll automatically receive AU$1,000 to help offset visa application costs.
This scholarship applies to students commencing in 2026 and does not apply to students enrolling as part of the student exchange program with a partner institution.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
Most international students need valid OSHC, which covers hospital and medical care. Costs are arranged through QUT’s provider, Medibank, once you accept your offer. Students from certain countries (e.g., Belgium and Norway) may be exempt. Extra travel insurance is required for trips outside Australia.
Additional placement-related costs
Some units require extra compulsory costs beyond tuition such as vaccinations, working with children (blue card) checks, course-related materials or placements. These are not included in your tuition and must be paid separately. Please check the unit overview for details.
