As a recent graduated from my bachelor's degree, I would sum up my experience at QUT as; Memorable, Happy and Exciting.
I chose to come and study at QUT because of it’s one of the top business schools globally. My sister was already studying in Brisbane, she loved it, and she really wanted me to come and study here so it was an easy decision.
I love living in Brisbane has a good mix of both city and nature. Everyone that I’ve met whether people at Uni or in the stores are really nice and helpful. I would say I really enjoy the beaches and national parks but if I had to choose one it would most probably be the gyms/studios where I can release stress and enjoy a good sweat out session/workouts! You definitely need this to regain energy after your studies.
My fondest memories here at QUT has been the people and teaching staff I’ve met. Everyone has been so friendly which made studying and living in a foreign country very memorable.
I have loved my experience here at QUT and some of the highlights has been all the events that QUT have organised and being a part of the BAMSA Club Executive. I’ve joined mainly the business clubs due to my degree such as QUTTIC and AMped because of the networking events and corporate events and QUTTIC was because I wanted to start investing. I think it’s been great to join different clubs since I’ve gained really useful skills such as organising events and I’ve met great friends throughout the way.
Real world experience
I undertook a WIL (Work Integrated Learning) unit and during this time I was accepted as an intern with a mining company called Interlate. I’ve got to design and create posters, case studies and help out with doing research on different figures and insights on mining company. Everyone at the office was really helpful and they were always happy to help me since I was new to the mining industry and there were a lot of different terminologies and processes to learn.
Planning for the future
Whilst at QUT I’ve gained great skills in communication and written skills, critical thinking and analysing, as well as time management. I'm currently studying a Master of Business (Marketing) at QUT. I chose this course because I want to further deepen my knowledge in marketing as I have really enjoyed it. I’m still at a stage where I enjoy learning and discover where my passion is, who knows what the future will lead to.
My advice
Make the most of every opportunity and take full advantage by leaning to choices that make you feel nervous and excited which will in the end make you feel good emotionally and mentally.
