I don't know what to study
Not sure what to study? The QUT Match My Skills quiz can help. Our Match My Skills quiz provides you with a personalised recommendation of study options by matching your personality, interests and goals to our course offerings. It’s great for undergraduate students looking to start at university but who are unsure which course is best for them.
I’d like to improve my English
QUT has many programs and courses designed to help you improve your English before starting your bachelor or master degree. They can help you:
- gain confidence in English before starting at QUT
- meet the English language requirements for your preferred degree
- learn how to write English for academic purposes
- or prepare for an IELTS test.
Sue from South Korea says:
“I took the General English program at QUT College before starting my IT course, and I highly recommend this to all international students. These classes helped me adapt to the QUT campus in advance and meet wonderful friends. During the course, I created many cherished memories, which gave me the enthusiasm and confidence to begin my IT studies.”

I’m not sure I meet the entry requirements
You can check if you meet the entry requirements for your preferred course by looking at the course page. If you’re not sure if you meet the entry requirements for a course at QUT, you can always apply to study at QUT and our international admissions team will let you know.
There may be options for you to study a pathway program before starting a bachelor degree. Completing a QUT College program will guarantee you a place in your approved QUT bachelor degree, and in most cases, won’t make your study journey any longer. If you need to study a pathway program, the international admissions team will tell you this when they assess your application.
QUT has diploma programs in:
- architectural studies
- business
- creative industries
- engineering
- health studies
- information technology
- nursing.
Damian from Vietnam says:
“I chose the Diploma in Creative Industries pathway program (one year), which fast-tracked me to the second year of the Bachelor of Communication degree.
As an international student, a pathway program is an ideal option because it allows us to become familiar with a new education system without feeling overwhelmed. It also improved my writing skills for assignments and provided me with fundamental knowledge relevant to my bachelor degree.”
I want to change career
There are many 2-year course options at QUT that will allow you to change careers. You don’t need to complete a 3-year bachelor degree at QUT to start in a new industry. Consider one of the following master degrees where you don’t need previous study in that area to be eligible:
- Master of Business
- Master of Data Science
- Master of Digital Communication
- Master of Information Technology
- Master of Nursing – Entry to Practice
- Master of Project Management
- Master of Public Health
- Master of Social Work – Qualifying
- Master of Design (Strategic Design)
- Master of Teaching (Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary)
We can help you find the way to your future career regardless of your background.
