What you'll receive

You’ll receive a scholarship valued up to $30,000.

The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in six instalments of $5,000 per semester for up to three years, following confirmation of your enrolment after the census date of each semester, commencing Semester 1, 2025.

Eligibility

To be eligible for The CGC Scholarship for Civil Engineers, you must meet the following criteria:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • be enrolled part-time or full-time
  • able to demonstrate financial hardship or relocation from a regional, rural or remote area to undertake your degree

To be eligible you must be entering your second year, having completed 96 credit points and enrolled in an Engineering degree with a major in Civil Engineering and demonstrating interest in Geotechnical Engineering, in one of the following courses:

  • EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)
  • EN40 Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)

Double degrees

Students enrolled in one of the following double degree courses majoring in civil engineering and have completed 192 credit points in the engineering degree are eligible:

  • IX59 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Business
  • SE40 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics
  • SE60 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Information Technology
  • SE80 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science
  • EV09 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Project Management.

How to apply

You need to complete and submit the online application form by Tuesday, 1 April 2025.

Your application should include the following attachments:

  • your academic record from the HiQ website
  • your resume
  • a written response to the application questions
  • a statement of financial hardship or evidence of relocation from a regional, rural or remote area to undertake your degree

What happens next?

CGC will be involved in the selection process with opportunities given for work experience or internship to the successful candidate. Shortlisted recipients will be contacted by CGC.

The Civil Geotechnical Consultants (CGC) Scholarship for Civil Engineering is a testament to CGC’s commitment to driving positive social impact and empowering the next generation of engineers. Recognising the barriers faced by students from low socio-economic backgrounds, the scholarship provides financial assistance and professional development opportunities to help them achieve their goals in civil engineering with a particular focus on Geotechnical Engineering.


As Australia’s first certified social enterprise in engineering, CGC dedicates profits to initiatives that create stronger foundations for vulnerable youth, including mentoring programs, STEM education, and scholarships. This scholarship aligns with CGC’s mission to foster innovation in engineering while building capacity within communities, creating pathways for students to contribute to impactful projects in transport, energy, and civil infrastructure.
