What you'll receive

You'll receive a scholarship valued at up to $15,000.

This scholarship will be paid as a study stipend of $2,500 after the HECS-HELP census date of each full-time semester for up to three years ($5,000 per year), or pro rata equivalent for part-time students.

Other benefits may include access to peer support, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Eligibility

You must:

  • demonstrate exceptional academic excellence in school studies, based on your adjusted Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) or adjusted selection rank for International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • be graduating Year 12 in 2026, or have graduated Year 12 in 2025, and are applying through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) to QUT for the first time
  • nominate QUT's Bachelor of Arts as your first preference on your QTAC application at the time of the main December and January admission offer rounds and receive an offer in the first preference
  • be starting a university undergraduate degree for the first time in 2027
  • have not undertaken/commenced any tertiary study, other than studies in special university programs designed for secondary school students (eg. START QUT).

You must also be one of the following:

  • an Australian citizen
  • a New Zealand citizen
  • an Australian permanent resident
  • a holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • an international student who has completed the Australian senior secondary curriculum in Australia.

How to apply

You do not need to complete a scholarship application for the Bachelor of Arts Impact Scholarship. All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates with QUT's Bachelor of Arts as their first preference will be considered.

If you're interested in a course that isn't eligible for this scholarship, you may be eligible for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) or QUT Excellence Scholarship (Creative Arts) instead.

What happens next?

Due to the large volume of applications received, we'll only notify students who are successful in being offered a scholarship.

Conditions

To keep your scholarship, you must maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher each semester.

You can:

  • be enrolled either full-time or part-time, either online or on-campus (part-time students receive payments equivalent to half of the full-time payment rate)
  • take a leave of absence for up to two years but only after you have completed one full-time semester of study (you won't receive scholarship payments during this time).

You can't:

  • defer your scholarship offer
  • change or withdraw from your course
  • take unofficial absences
  • hold any other scholarship, except an Equity Scholarship.

About the scholarship

The Bachelor of Arts Impact Scholarship is awarded to high achieving school leavers and eligible gap year students who are commencing QUT’s new Bachelor of Arts program. This scholarship is targeted at high achievers and will enable their continued success at QUT through financial support, as well as peer support, mentoring, and networking opportunities.
