If you're an elite athlete and you're applying to QUT or changing your course, you can apply for our Elite athlete special entry scheme to receive a bonus to your OP score, ranking or grade point average (GPA).
This might help you get into the course you want even if your original OP or GPA doesn't meet the cut-off.
You're eligible for our Elite athlete special entry scheme if you are involved in demanding training or travelling as part of your commitments in an Australian Sports Commission (ASC) recognised sport and at least one of these applies to you:
Athletes from non-ASC recognised sports are still encouraged to apply and may be considered at the discretion of the Elite Athlete Program Committee.
You may also be eligible for our Vice Chancellor's Scholarships (Elite Athlete). You'll need to submit a separate application for the scholarship. You can't use bonus OPs or ranks to meet the OP/rank requirement for the $30,000 scholarship, but if you don't meet the academic requirements you may still be eligible to apply for the $10,000 scholarship.
If you're applying through QTAC for an undergraduate course, you may receive a bonus of up to 3 OP scores (or 6 ranks).
If you're a current QUT undergraduate student and you're applying for a course in a different faculty, or a course change within your current faculty (intrafaculty course change), you may receive a bonus to your grade point average (GPA).
If you're applying for a postgraduate course, you may receive a bonus to your grade point average (GPA).
Applications for Semester 2, 2017 are open, and will close on Monday 17 April 2017.
You'll first need to apply for a QUT course through QTAC and then apply separately for our Elite Athlete Special Entry Scheme.
The Elite Athlete Program Committee will assess your application. If you're successful, your bonus will be applied to your QUT preferences through your QTAC application or intrafaculty course change application.
We'll inform you of the outcome of your application within two weeks of the closing date. This will give you time to change your QTAC preferences if you need to.
If you don't meet the entry requirements for your desired QUT course and you are not sure about the best pathway into QUT, contact our Elite Athlete Program Coordinator for advice.
QUT has been recognised as an Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) by the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Sports Commission.
We know that being an elite athlete takes up a lot of time, so we're flexible about enrolment, assessment and special consideration where possible.
Once you're a QUT student and receive your student number, you'll need to complete a separate application for the Elite Athlete Program. As an elite athlete studying at QUT, you'll be able to:
