Visualisation of Text Analytics

Natural language is complex to analyse and the results of the analysis are often difficult to convey in a meaningful way. One approach is to convey resultant analytics in the context of the original text by visually annotating the text. This project will suit someone with an interest in visual style who also possesses basic programming skills.

Recreating porous geometries from micro CT scan data

The aim of this research is to determine the virtual morphology of a heterogeneous porous medium from a micro computed tomography (micro-CT) scanner dataset.We'll use the 3D imaging facilities at QUT's Institute of Future Environments (IFE) for data capture.

Our understanding of microbial diversity on Earth has been fundamentally changed by metagenomic characterisation of natural ecosystems. Strain-level characterisation and visualisation of microbial communities associated with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory disorder driven by complex interactions between environmental, microbial and immune-mediated factors. An unfavourable shift in gut microbiome composition, known as dysbiosis, is now considered a key feature of IBD, however it is unclear how specific microorganisms and their interactions with host cells contribute to disease onset and progression.
