Providing legal evidence for non-accidental scald burn injury

Although most burn injuries are completely accidental in nature, they can also occur due to neglect or abuse. Burn clinicians are often required to ascertain if the patient history and the wound are consistent with accidental or non-accidental injury. If the case goes to court, the clinician will prepare a medico-legal report as evidence. Preventing arterial catheter-related harm in intensive care

Each year more than 200,000 patients (adults and children) are admitted to intensive care units (ICU) in Australia and New Zealand for treatment of serious and life-threatening injury or illness, or recovery from major surgery. The vast majority (~90%) of ICU patients will require an arterial catheter during their admission to optimise vital treatment and monitoring. Blast response and safety assessment of transport tunnels

Transport tunnels are important components of the transport systems in major cities. They can be vulnerable to bomb explosions caused by accidental or deliberate means.This project will evaluate the vulnerability of transport tunnels to credible blast events and the influence of key parameters. We'll then propose measures to mitigate the adverse effects of such explosions to maximise the safety of passengers, infrastructure and transport vehicles.
