Overview

The need for sustainable construction has prompted researching alternative concrete technologies around the world. In QUT, a project has been developed to investigate structural applications of environmentally friendly (Green) concrete.

Project activities can be undertaken by students at various levels, including VRES, final-year undergraduates, and PhD researchers.

Research activities

The involved research methodologies, timelines, and expected outcomes depend on the program for which the student applies but can include detailed literature reviews, laboratory testing, and analytical modelling.

Skills and experience

Applicants for PhD admission must satisfy QUT admission requirements and, in addition, have a strong academic background in Structural Engineering subjects.

The applicants for VRES and undergraduate final-year research projects must have completed the following units or equivalents:

  • EGB270: Civil Engineering Materials
  • GB375: Design of Concrete Structures
