Biography
Associate Professor Christopher Blundell is an experienced educator and researcher, and Academic Lead Learning and Teaching (post-initial teacher education) and Course Coordinator for the Master of Education and the Graduate Certificate of Education.Chris’ research focuses on interrelated themes of teacher design thinking and digital learning-pedagogy in teacher education and K-12 settings, including the impact of GenAI. His work focusses on case studies of teacher-led innovation and transformative professional learning. He has significant experience translating research to practice. Chris co-designs and leads highly successful professional learning projects, including a multi-year project with Apple about innovative use of technology to support literacy and creativity for Australian and New Zealand primary school teachers (533 teachers, 14,050 students from 179 schools).
Drawing on extensive experience as a secondary teacher (26 years) and executive-level school leadership of curriculum, assessment, and reporting (11 years), Chris teaches units about innovation in digital learning-pedagogy and leadership. He has led course design across all of teacher education courses, including QUT’s new Graduate Certificate and Master of Education courses. Chris also plays a pivotal role in QUT’s professional learning and capacity building programs. He is a member of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s Senior Secondary Curriculum, Assessment and Certification Committee. He also shapes policy as a member of the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee, and QUT’s LMS+ Business Reference Group and Learning Innovation Pilot Steering Group.

Experience
Christopher also has 26 years experience as a secondary teacher, including 11 years as Academic Dean (executive level leader of curriculum, assessment and reporting) of a large, independent P-12 school. For 20 years, he contributed to curriculum development and assessment moderation processes with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA), including 13 years as State Review Panel Chair for Earth Science. He has also contributed to the writing all of Queensland's Earth Science and Earth and Environmental Science syllabuses since 1994. Christopher regularly works with schools on design-based professional learning projects.
