VASP provides tailored support, resources, and opportunities to help you balance your service, study, and life after the military. Our initiatives include:

  • priority allocation of class timetabling preferences
  • access to a Canvas Community website with tailored transition and study resources
  • membership to the Student Veterans and Families Club, connecting you with peers and events across QUT
  • one-on-one consultations with a Student Success Coach to develop personalised study and transition plans
  • career mentoring from industry professionals with military experience.

You will be able to register to VASP on the Australian Defence Force veterans page on our student site once your enrolment has been accepted and you receive your student login details.

Admission via QTAC

Veteran students can apply to QUT via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).

To support your application, submit your ADF service record and QTAC will use your service history to assign a selection rank to be used for admission to undergraduate programs.

We value the unique skills, experience, and qualifications developed through ADF service and support Advanced Standing (credit) for military service to help reduce duplication and fast-track your degree.

Details of credit awarded in a number of courses can be viewed below. Credit for diplomas completed through the Department of Defence can be viewed in the Advanced Standing Precedent List by searching "Australian Defence Force (ADF)" as the prior institution. You may have additional training and experiences that are eligible for advanced standing - visit the advanced standing (credit) page to learn more.

You will need to provide documentation to support your application, such as the following:

  • Military Service Record (PMKeyS Long) or official Certificate of Service
  • completed qualifications (AQF diplomas, academic transcripts)
  • additional documentation: Performance Appraisal Report (PAR), Duty Statement, letter from superiors, commendations.

There are only 96cp of General Advanced Standing in the Bachelor of Business, so if a Sergeant has already received 96 as per the above table, they will not be able to receive any additional General Advanced Standing from a Diploma.

Pathway to postgraduate qualification for COVE+ students (The Australian Army)

QUT Graduate School of Business partnered with the Army to develop COVE+, a series of customised self-paced online learning solutions across 92 topics hosted on ADELE(O:S).

Selected COVE+ units act as your first step towards higher qualifications. Army staff who complete selected COVE+ units will receive credit for equivalent professional development modules of the QUT Enterprise Leadership Program (ELP) valued at $2,100 per module unit at no cost.

To transform your selected COVE+ units into a postgraduate qualification, this credit allows for direct entry to the QUT ELP Credential Unit (a cost of $2,316 per unit GST exempt) which is an online award extension unit, equal to 12 credit points that can go towards the completion of a Graduate Certificate in Business (Enterprise Leadership) and can open the door to higher qualifications like an Executive MBA or MBA at our QUT Executive Education Centre in Brisbane.

Graduate Certificate in Business for COVE+ students

By successfully completing four ELP equivalent selected COVE+ units and their associated credential units with QUT, you will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Business (Enterprise Leadership).

To attain this qualification, you must complete one core unit (Leading Self and Others) plus three elective units.
