Optometrists are primary health care practitioners, and the majority of patients who require an eye examination consult optometrists. Therefore, optometrists are at the forefront of the fight against eye disease, and play a major role in the detection of systemic diseases that cause ocular signs and symptoms. Extensive coverage of the topic of eye diseases is therefore a major part of optometric studies.This unit is a continuation from OPB550 and provides students with the knowledge and capabilities to detect and diagnose eye disease, and take appropriate clinical action. OPB650 focuses on building knowledge of diseases influencing the posterior eye, ocular manifestations of systemic disease and neuro-ophthalmology. Knowledge from this unit will be highly relevant to future units in the Master of Optometry (OP85) course involving clinical optometric practice and therapeutic management of eye disease.","title-full":"OPB650 Diseases of the Eye 6","title-short":"Diseases of the Eye 6","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=OPB650&year=2024","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=OPB650","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=OPB650"},"year":2024,"years":[2024]}
