QUT students chatting and smiling

By QUT Student Recruitment, 25 August, 2025

Nothing says ‘peace of mind’ quite like knowing your child will finish Year 12 with a plan and a university place.

This is where early offer schemes come in. Instead of waiting to receive their ATAR (18 December in Queensland), and then waiting to see if are offered a place in their preferred course, your teen could receive an early offer based on other factors and relax knowing their post-school plans are sorted.

QUT’s Year 12 Early Offer Scheme is based on the subject results students receive in their internal assessments at school, and doesn’t rely on them achieving a certain ATAR. If your teen has completed a VET diploma, or QUT’s START QUT program, they could also receive an early offer.

When will my teen get their offer?

If eligible, your teen will receive their offer on the day they complete Year 12 (21 November 2025). There’s also a second round on 28 November in case there are delays with documentation. Check eligibility criteria.

How does it work?

Follow these steps to early offer success!

  1. Apply to QTAC: Your teen needs to apply to QTAC (who process applications for Queensland universities) by 22 October 2025 and include a QUT course that’s part of the early offer scheme in their top three preferences—there’s more than 80 single and double degrees to choose from.
  1. Upload results/documents: Your teen will receive an email invitation to upload their results/documents. What they need to provide will depend on whether they are completing an ATAR, International Baccalaureate Diploma or VET pathway, or if they have undertaken the START QUT program. Check required school results.
  1. Receive approval and order preferences: If they meet the eligibility criteria and subject results, your teen will receive approval for an early offer. They then need to make the QUT course their first preference so they can receive their early offer.

Hot tips

  • Preferred course not included? If your teen’s dream course isn’t included, they can still apply for an early offer for another course as a back up, accept their early offer conditionally, and be considered for their preferred course later.
  • Stay connected. Once they’ve applied, make sure your teen checks their email regularly as well as their QTAC online application to make sure they don’t miss any correspondence.
  • Check the website. You’ll find a full breakdown of key dates, step-by-step guide, documentation guidelines, advice about responding to an early offer, and more—http://www.qut.edu.au/study/early-offer

The Year 12 Early Offer Scheme was a massive load off my shoulders since I already knew I had been accepted before ATARs were released. I felt a lot more comfortable over the holidays and no pressure in checking my ATAR. — Lily, engineering and science double degree student.
