More than 70 sponsored school-based prizes and Corporate Partners in Excellence Scholarships have been awarded to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to recognise their outstanding achievements in the 2025 academic year.
The prizes recognise the significant contributions to the QUT community, celebrating the highest achievements in individual units, the highest overall GPA in a course, or outstanding performance within a particular discipline or field of study.
This year’s ceremony brought together over 250 students, sponsors, staff and families to celebrate success across the Faculty of Business and Law cohorts.
A highlight of the evening was a special speech by QUT alumnus and former prize recipient Nick Di Savia, who shared his some of his career journey and advice with current students.
After graduating a double degree in business and law in 2019, Nick secured a role with Talbot Sayer, where he works as a corporate lawyer.
“Some of the best years of my life were spent at QUT,” he reflected.
“The lessons I’ve learned, the friends I’ve made and the awesome experiences I’ve had will stay with me for a lifetime.”
“I even met my wife at QUT.”
Nick shared some of his experiences with the crowd.
“I was a member of QUT Business School’s case competition squad, where I received weekly training on analysing business problems and working in teams to come up with solutions.”
“I was then flown to six overseas competitions, where my team was given a real business problem, locked in a hotel room for between three and 40 hours to come up with a solution, and then required to pitch that solution back to the business board.”
“I also applied for as many work experience programs as I could.”
By the end of his degree, Nick had interned at two big-four firms, four top-tier law firms, and a community legal centre.
He ended his address by sharing three pieces of wisdom with the audience.

“In a room filled with high achievers, I can say with the utmost confidence that if you apply yourself, you will have what it takes. Let the success you are being recognised for tonight be a due reminder of that.”
