Our teachers have years of experience, and will give you the skills you need to succeed.
They create a comfortable learning environment where students are encouraged to reflect, engage and develop the skills to feel confident in their English speaking and writing abilities.
Our teachers work to create a space where students feel supported and comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions.
Professor Liangzhi Kou
Professor Liangzhi Kou received his PhD from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and has held research and academic positions at Bremen University (Germany), the University of New South Wales, and Queensland University of Technology (Australia), where he is currently a professor in the School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering.
His research focuses on first-principles simulations of low-dimensional nanomaterials, with particular interest in multi-physical coupling phenomena - mechanical, electrical, and magnetic - and their applications in energy conversion and storage, nano electronic devices, and catalysis.
Dr Yuchen Zhang
Dr Yuchen Zhang is a lecturer and ARC DECRA Fellow in the School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics. He also serves as the course coordinator for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (EZ90).
He holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales and previously worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the ARC Research Hub for Integrated Energy Storage Solutions.
His research interests include:
- power system stability assessment and control
- planning, operation, and control of renewable power systems
- data-driven system development
- wind farm planning, operation, and maintenance
- smart campus and smart city.
Professor Travis Klein
Professor Travis Klein is the leader of the Cartilage Regeneration Laboratory (CRL) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The ultimate aim of the CRL is to help develop long-term regenerative therapies for treating cartilage defects, including osteoarthritis, through innovations in biomaterials, 3D models, bio fabrication, and mechanical stimulation. The CRL also applies these approaches to other health areas including cardiovascular disease and cancer. Travis was the founding director of the QUT Centre for Biomedical Technologies, which aims to deliver better health in our lifetime, by improving how we treat complex medical cases stemming from injuries, infection and age-related issues.
Travis is the subject area coordinator for the biomedical engineering major, and brings years of experience coordinating and teaching topics including biomaterials and engineering mechanics.
Hannah Stoios
Hannah Stoios joined QUT in 2022 an education and project management professional. She holds a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Applied Linguistics from the University of Queensland and a Master of Disaster, Design and Development from RMIT University.
Hannah currently manages QUT's DQSE English Language Program, supporting the delivery of QUT English language units in China as part of the QUT-Dalian University of Technology transnational education partnership. Her work spans program management, academic and operational coordination, quality assurance, teacher development, and international stakeholder engagement. She has also published in the Australian Review of Applied Linguistics on the role of English as a global language and the future of English language communication in Asia.
Her professional interests beyond higher education include disaster management, nature-based solutions for disaster resilience, and Indigenous knowledge approaches to anticipatory action. She has contributed to projects focused on disaster preparedness, anticipatory action and organisational capacity strengthening across the Pacific.
