Scholarship details
What you'll receive
- An annual stipend paid fortnightly to support living costs. From 1 January 2025, the annual stipend rate is $33,637 per annum.
- A maximum duration for the scholarship while undertaking a QUT PhD is 3.5 years and for a QUT MPhil is 1.75 years. This includes an extension of up to six months (PhD) or three months (MPhil), if approved for your candidature.
- This is the full-time, tax-exempt rate which will index annually.
- You will receive a tuition fee offset/sponsorship, covering the cost of your tuition fees for the first four full-time equivalent years of your doctoral studies or the first two full-time equivalent years of your master degree studies.
- International students also receive Single Overseas Health Cover if eligible.
Eligibility
New applicants to QUT research degrees need to:
- meet QUT’s admission criteria for a research degree, which includes meeting QUT’s English language requirements
- not be in receipt of another living allowance scholarship to undertake the research degree
- enrol as a full-time, internal student (unless approval for part-time and/or external study is obtained).
Current QUT research students need to have consumed less than the below equivalent full-time study load (EFTSL) to be eligible:
- less than one year EFTSL for enrolled research doctorate students
- less than six months EFTSL for enrolled research master degree students.
Eligible current QUT research students will receive an invitation to submit their application once the round opens.
