What you'll receive

This scholarship is valued at $10,000. It will be paid as a study stipend of up to $5,000 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for one year.

Eligibility

You must:

  • commence an undergraduate coursework course in Semester 2, 2026 via a QTAC application. Note: This scholarship is not available for admission in:
    • LW39 Bachelor of Laws (Honours) - Graduate Entry
    • CS44 Bachelor of Podiatry - Graduate Entry
  • have QUT as your first preference at the time of application
  • have received a QUT offer in your first preference
  • be starting at QUT for the first time
  • have achieved a minimum unadjusted selection rank of 98.00 or higher.

Note: a selection rank is a numerical value used by tertiary institutions to assess an applicant's suitability for a specific course. It is derived from various criteria, including academic achievements and other factors for certain circumstances. The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is often mistaken for the selection rank, but they are distinct.

You must also be one of the following:

  • an Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
  • an Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand citizen.

Meeting the minimum selection rank does not guarantee a scholarship. Scholarship offers are allocated across faculties. This provides opportunities for outstanding students in various fields of study.

How to apply

You do not need to complete a scholarship application for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (2026 Mid-Year Entry). All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates with a QUT course as their first preference will be considered.

Other scholarships at QUT may require you to complete a separate application form. For further information, view our scholarships.

What happens next?

Due to the large volume of applications received, we'll only notify students who are successful in being offered a scholarship. All selection and allocation decisions made by QUT are final.

Conditions

To keep your scholarship, you must maintain an overall grade point average (GPA of 5.0 or higher each semester).

You can be enrolled either full-time or part-time.
