What you'll receive
A seven-week work integrated learning clinical placement at one of the selected Queensland X-Ray regional placement sites in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, or Toowoomba (one student per location).
This is supported by $5,000 of funding as a cash payment to assist with the out-of-pocket expenses associated with undertaking a regional placement.
Queensland X-Ray will also provide an optional two weeks of accommodation for each bursary recipient upon arrival at the placement location, if required.
Eligibility
You must:
- be enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Honours) (CS48) year 3, Semester 2 at the time of application and enrolled, or set to enrol for year 4 in Semester 1, 2025
- at the time of application have a minimum GPA 4.0 and maintain it until the time of your placement
- be willing to undertake a clinical placement at any of the offered Queensland X-Ray regional placement sites (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, or Toowoomba) in either of the 7-week clinical placement blocks during Year 4.
Queensland X-Ray regional sites eligible for this placement are:
- Cairns
- Townsville
- Mackay
- Toowoomba.
Note: While we will endeavour to support student preference where possible, the location of your placement will be subject to availability and may offered at any one of the available sites.

Applications for The Queensland X-Ray Regional Bursary have now closed.
To apply, complete the application form, including a written statement (maximum 1,000 words total) answering these four questions:
- which Queensland X-ray region you would like to complete a placement in and why? (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Toowoomba)
- explain the importance of completing a regional placement

What happens next?
Once the selection process is complete, you will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application. The successful applicant may be notified of the outcome of their application by telephone or email prior to receiving the formal written notification.
Conditions
You will need to:
- maintain a grade point average of at least 4.0
- maintain an enrolment (full time or part time) in Semester 1 and 2, 2025.

Withdrawal and termination of scholarship
Withdrawal by recipient: Scholarship recipients who withdraw from their study program after receiving payment of scholarship benefits may be required to repay some or all of the scholarship funds received.
Termination of scholarship by QUT: QUT may terminate a scholarship if a recipient does not satisfactorily meet the scholarship terms and conditions.
