Scholarship details
What you'll receive
You’ll receive a scholarship valued at $4,000.
The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in two instalments of $2,000 per semester for up to one year, following confirmation of your enrolment after the census date of each semester, commencing Semester 2, 2027.
Opportunities will also be provided for the successful candidate to present at and/or attend suitable AusIMM events.
Eligibility
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen
- an Australian Permanent Resident
- an Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
- an international student.
- be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at QUT
- be commencing your second year of study in a science or engineering course, having completed 96 credit points
- demonstrate passion in the mining and metallurgy sector.
Double Degree
Students enrolled in science or engineering double degrees will also be eligible for this scholarship.
Students will need to be entering the equivalent of their second year, having completed 192 credits points of a science or engineering course in 2027.

To apply for this scholarship, you need to complete and submit the online application form by the closing date.
Your application should also include the following attachments:
- a copy of your academic record from HiQ site
- a copy of your resume/curriculum vitae (CV).
What happens next?
Scholarship selection will be managed by QUT. Recipients will be chosen based on academic merit, demonstrated potential, and a genuine commitment to making an impact in the resources sector.
If your application is successful, we will notify you via email.

Opportunities to AusIMM Events
This scholarship is intended to support students who are AusIMM members. If you are a successful applicant, you are encouraged to register as an AusIMM student member.
It is acknowledged that it is not compulsory for the awarded recipient to be or become a member to be awarded the scholarship.
