What you'll receive
You'll receive a bursary of either $250, $500 or $750, to be determined based on the length of your work integrated learning (WIL) placement.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the bursary, you must be either:
- an Australian citizen
- a New Zealand citizen
- an Australian permanent resident.
You must:
- be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
- be enrolled at QUT in a nursing or teaching course at census date
- be undertaking a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement.
How to apply
To be considered for this bursary, you must complete and submit the 2026 Forrester Family Nursing and Teaching Practical Placement Bursary application form online by Sunday 22 March, 2026.
Your application should also include the following attachments:
- a copy of your current QUT academic transcript
- a written submission (150–300 words per question) addressing the following question: 'How will this bursary assist you whilst undertaking your WIL placement?'
What happens next?
Your application will be assessed by representatives from the Oodgeroo Unit, based on the information provided in your application form and written submission.
Successful applicants will be notified by email.

About the bursary
The Forrester Family Nursing and Teaching Practical Placement Bursary is a joint initiative between the Oodgeroo Unit, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Forrester Family.
The bursary is available to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders students with some of the costs associated with completing a work integrated learning (WIL) placement in nursing or teaching.
