What you'll receive
You'll receive a:
- bursary of $1500, $2000, $2500 or $3000 based on your demonstrated need.
Eligibility
You must be:
- currently enrolled as a student
- struggling financially
- undertaking a work integrated learning (WIL) placement and required to relocate from your normal place of residence
- unable to meet the costs of placement.
Who can't apply
You can't apply if you're a:
- single-unit study student - studying an individual unit at QUT, but not enrolled in a QUT course
- cross-institutional student - enrolled in a course at another university, but studying specific units at QUT and receiving credit towards your course at another university
- QUT College student - studying one of the pathway programs offered by our college, including foundation courses, university diplomas and English language courses
How to apply
You'll need to make an appointment with a Welfare Officer. They will assess your financial situation and determine your eligibility for a bursary. All appointments are confidential and free.
At your appointment
You will need to provide documentation so we can assess your eligibility. .
Documents you need to provide include:
- proof of income, such as:
- Centrelink statement
- payslips covering the past 2 months
- most recent financial year Australian Taxation Notice of Assessment
- income deposits for the past 2 months on your bank statement.
Note: If you are partnered or dependant on and/or living with parents/caregivers, the Welfare Officer will also need to see evidence of partner or parental (or family) income
- your current bank balances
- any quotes or bills demonstrating additional placement costs, particularly transport and accommodation costs.
If you are not sure what you need to bring, or are having difficulty accessing documents (most should be available online), talk to a Welfare Officer.
During your appointment you'll need to discuss the costs of your placement and their impact on your financial situation.
If you are not eligible for the bursary, we can help you explore how you can meet the costs of your work integrated learning.

Before we approve the bursary, we'll check your enrolment status to make sure that you're still enrolled and eligible. We'll email you to let you know what to do next.
About the scholarship
The Equity WIL Relocation Bursary is available to assist students struggling financially meet the extra costs of undertaking work-integrated learning (WIL) where they are required to relocate from their normal place of residence.
