What you'll receive
You'll receive a scholarship valued at $5000 for one year, paid in two instalments of $2500.
This scholarship is offered in Semester 1 each year.
Eligibility
You must be one of the following:
- an Australian citizen (including dual citizens)
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a permanent humanitarian visa holder
- a New Zealand citizen.
You must also be:
- from a low-income background
- experiencing financial hardship
- enrolled in or applying for a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil).
This scholarship is not available to:
- single-unit study students - studying an individual unit at QUT, but not enrolled in a QUT course
- cross-institutional students - enrolled in a course at another university, but studying specific units at QUT and receiving credit towards your course at the other university
- QUT College students - studying one of the pathway programs offered by our international college, including foundation courses, university diplomas and English language courses.
How to apply
Submit one application to be considered for multiple scholarships and bursaries under the QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme. This scholarship is offered in the Semester 1 round only, with applications typically open from mid-December to mid-February. Other scholarships under the scheme may be available in later rounds, so check the QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme page for details.

About the scholarship
The Dylan Coote Memorial Scholarship honours the life and legacy of Dylan Coote. Established through the generosity of Dylan's family and ConnellGriffin, the scholarship supports a Civil Engineering student experiencing financial hardship, helping them pursue their studies and achieve their educational goals at QUT.
The Learning Potential Fund provides support through scholarships and bursaries to students in financial need.
