What you'll receive

You’ll receive a scholarship valued at $10,000.

The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in two instalments of $5,000 per semester for up to one year, following confirmation of your enrolment after the census date of each semester, commencing Semester 1, 2026.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • be from a low socio-economic background
  • be enrolled at QUT by the census date and studying full-time (36 credit points or more)
  • have not received the scholarship before.
You must also be commencing or continuing an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
  • Business
  • Science
  • Engineering
  • Technology.

In addition, consideration may be given to applicants who have relocated from a regional, rural or remote area to undertake their studies.

How to apply

To apply for this scholarship, you must complete and submit the 2026 CS Energy Indigenous Scholarship Application Form by Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Your application should also include the following attachments:

  • a copy of your current QUT academic transcript (if available), or any previous academic transcripts or academic records from other institutions
  • a copy of your resume / curriculum vitae (CV)
  • a written submission (150 - 300 words per question) addressing the following questions:
  1. Share your story, your mob, and the strengths, values and leadership qualities that shape who you are, including how you've used these qualities to support or uplift others.
  2. What inspired you to choose your current course of study, and how will it support your long-term goals and future career aspirations?
  3. Describe any significant challenges you've faced during your studies and explain how this scholarship would support you to continue progressing and achieving your goals.
  4. Describe the ways you engage with your community and how your future qualifications will help you create positive change for the community.

How to get the most out of your application

  • Poor spelling or grammar reflects a rushed and inadequately written application. Type your answers into a Word document to check for spelling and grammar before submitting answers into each response field.
  • Remember there's a maximum of 300 words per question. Be informative, clear and concise to provide answers that stand out from other applicants.
  • Check the terms and conditions to ensure you are following all necessary steps and supplying all the relevant information required for the scholarship.

What happens next?

Applications will be shortlisted by a selection panel who will assess all written applications against the selection criteria.

Shortlisted candidates will then be interviewed by the selection panel on an agreed date to select and award recipients.

The selection panel will encompass representatives from the Oodgeroo Unit, QUT’s Scholarships Team, and CS Energy.

Conditions

Scholarship recipients will need to enter into a binding agreement with QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit to:

  • maintain a 4.0 grade point average
  • maintain active engagement and communication with the QUT Oodgeroo Unit
  • attend the official scholarships presentation ceremony
  • give consent to photographs being taken for the purposes of promotional activities and other events including media, webpage/s by the QUT Oodgeroo Unit and CS Energy
  • consent to CS Energy accessing certain personal information, e.g. your name, image, contact details, course details and grade point average.

In addition to fulfilling their study program, the scholarship recipient should note that their responsibilities include:

  • notifying the QUT Oodgeroo Unit immediately of any change in enrolment status, unsuccessful completion of a semester, deferral or withdrawal from a course or study program
  • providing feedback to the QUT Oodgeroo Unit if requested.

About the scholarship

The CS Energy Indigenous Scholarship is a collaborative initiative between the Oodgeroo Unit at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and CS Energy. This scholarship is designed to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students from low socio-economic backgrounds, with priority afforded to those from rural or regional areas. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance for university‑related expenses, thereby enabling students to pursue their studies and achieve their full academic potential.
