What you'll receive
You’ll receive a scholarship valued at $10,000. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in two instalments of $5,000 per semester for up to one year, following confirmation of your enrolment after the census date of each semester, commencing Semester 1, 2027.
You must also maintain a minimum GPA of at least 4.5 to continue to receive the stipend.
Other benefits may include additional placement, internship or mentorship opportunities with BMD.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- identify as a female
- have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 4.5
- be enrolled as a full-time student at QUT (36 credit points or more per semester).
You must be either:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen
- an Australian permanent resident
- an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder.
You must be entering your third or fourth year of full-time study (36 credit points or more per semester), having completed a minimum of 144 credit points, in one of the following courses in Semester 1, 2027:
- EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)
- EV11 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)/Master of Sustainable Infrastructure
- EV09 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)/Master of Project Management
Double degrees
Students enrolled in one of the following double degrees in 2027 are eligible:
- SE40 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)/Bachelor of Mathematics
- SE60 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)/Bachelor of Information Technology
- SE80 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil)/Bachelor of Science
- IX59 Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil).
You will need to be entering the equivalent of your third or final year, having completed 192 credit points of the engineering degree, majoring in Civil.

Applications are currently closed. This scholarship is offered each year, with applications usually opening in December. Check back closer to this time for updates.
To apply for this scholarship, you will need to complete and submit the online application form by the closing date.
Your application should also include the following attachments:
- a copy of your academic record from HiQ site
- a copy of your resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
- a written response to the selection criteria
- a copy of any relevant supporting documentation.
What happens next?
Selection will be based on the following criteria:
- academic merit
- personal and educational achievements
- personal commitment to a career within the civil construction and/or design industries.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with BMD, who will then advise QUT of the successful candidate. The interview panel may include representatives from BMD.
Both successful and unsuccessful candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application.
