In recognition of the extraordinary challenges Year 12 students are facing due to COVID-19 disruptions, QUT will now accept VET qualifications (Certificate IV and above) for entry in 2021 for any student who completes Year 12.

Any Year 12 student who graduates with a:

  • Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
  • ATAR
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD)

will also be able to use the selection rank for their VET qualification for entry to QUT in 2021.

As a guide minimum selection ranks for completed AQF VET qualifications are:

  • 87.00 for a completed diploma
  • 74.00 for a completed certificate IV.

QUT will use the strongest of their ranks for entry, which may be their VET qualification, ATAR or IBD.

This option is available for entry in 2021 only. Students who wish to take a gap year should still apply for 2021 and then defer their offer.

Students who completed Year 12 in 2019 or 2018 and were OP-ineligible can also take advantage of this relaxation for entry in 2021. Students who graduated prior to 2017 are already eligible to use their school VET qualifications regardless of OP status as two years have passed since completion of Year 12.

For entry in 2022 onwards, students will require an ATAR or IBD if they wish to use a selection rank from a VET qualification completed at school for entry; completion of Year 12 or QCE will not be sufficient.
