Overview
The project aims to develop lab-on-a-chip devices for the analysis of metals of industrial significance. While other methodologies, such as FIA, SIA and SFA, have been applied for industrial online monitoring, these are usually expensive due to the consumption of large volumes of reagents. Miniaturisation of this style of technique to the lab-on-chip level will provide significant cost reductions.
Research engagement
This project is lab-based and involves many analytical instruments.
Research activities
The student will make and test a range of devices for the analysis of metal ions in industrial solutions. The student will compare the results from these devices against commercially available instrumentation.
Outcomes
This projects amis to develop a device on a chip for the analysis of aluminium.
