Preventing grate overheating in biomass fired boilers
The furnace grate is a key component in the combustion of renewable waste biomass in the Australian sugar industry to provide steam and power. Preventing arterial catheter-related harm in intensive care
Each year more than 200,000 patients (adults and children) are admitted to intensive care units (ICU) in Australia and New Zealand for treatment of serious and life-threatening injury or illness, or recovery from major surgery. The vast majority (~90%) of ICU patients will require an arterial catheter during their admission to optimise vital treatment and monitoring. Arterial catheters are small hollow plastic tubes inserted into peripheral arteries to facilitate continuous haemodynamic monitoring (e.g. blood-pressure) and frequent blood sampling. The Australian Cancer Atlas (ACA) is an award-winning and globally recognised tool for understanding the spatial variation in cancer incidence and survival across Australia. How does executive compensation influence voluntary turnover?
Corporate remuneration schemes can attract, retain, and motivate executives to exert effort and align their interests with shareholders’ interests. Prior studies find that executives are likely to resign when they are paid less than their peers, leading to a high rate of managerial turnover. TRAP: Translation into practice of tools for risk assessment for healing and prevention of venous leg ulcers
Approximately 30% of venous leg ulcers (VLUs) fail to respond to evidence-based treatments and remain unhealed; while after healing, 60–70% of ulcers recur.
