Overview
https://research.qut.edu.au/ver/https://research.qut.edu.au/ver/This project investigates how corneal immune cells in the human eye respond to topical anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant eye drops. By using in vivo confocal microscopy, we aim to monitor real-time cellular changes to better understand treatment effects in common ocular surface conditions.
Research activities
- Assist with literature searches on ocular immunology and imaging.
- Process and analyse image data using specialised software.
- Discuss results and contribute to a final report or presentation.
Students will work closely with Dr Luisa Holguin Colorado and the Eye Research Laboratory team at QUT.
Outcomes
The project aims to provide preliminary evidence on how quickly corneal immune cells react to treatment, which may help develop better monitoring strategies for inflammation in the eye. Findings may contribute to future publications and inform larger clinical studies.
Skills and experience
This project is suitable for students studying optometry, vision science, biomedical science, or related fields.
Ideal candidates should have:
- attention to detail
- good communication skills
- an interest in ocular health and research.
No prior experience is needed. All training will be provided.
