Overview

Developing sustainable and clean energy sources (e.g. solar, wind, and tide energy) is essential to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. Due to the discontinuous and inconsistent nature of common clean energy sources, high-performance energy storage technologies are a critical part of achieving this target.

Research activities

You will work with members of the School of Chemistry and Physics and researchers from the Centre for Materials Science.

The work is expected to involve:

  • rechargeable battery cell assembly
  • applying electrochemical testing techniques
  • data analysis and reporting.

The work will also provide exposure to:

  • a range of battery testing equipment
  • battery materials synthesis
  • battery materials characterisation.

Outcomes

The aim is to determine the performance, and suitability for purpose, of novel electrodes/separators/current collectors for sodium storage batteries.

Skills and experience

A background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or physics is highly preferred but all interested applicants are encouraged to send an enquiry email to jiaye.ye@qut.edu.au describing their motivation and suitability.
