What is the purpose of this research?
The purpose of this research is to explore the challenges experienced by migrant women working as early-career academics (ECAs) in Australian business schools and how these experiences shape their wellbeing.
Are you looking for people like me?
We are interested in hearing from migrant women early-career academics to enhance our understanding of their lived experiences. You are invited to participate in this research project if you are:
- a woman early-career academic, employed at Level A or Level B (associate Lecturer or Lecturer) in a combined research and teaching role within a business school at an Australian university, and are within approximately five years of PhD completion, allowing for career interruptions
- a first-generation migrant who has moved from another country to Australia.
What will you ask me to do?
Your participation will involve an audio-recorded interview that will take approximately 45-60 minutes of your time. This interview will be conducted either in person at a location of your convenience, or remotely via Zoom at a time convenient for you.
Are there any risks for me in taking part?
Participants may experience some discomfort when reflecting on past experiences, however, you may skip any questions you are not comfortable answering.
Are there any benefits for me in taking part?
This project will benefit migrant woman early-career academics in Australia by contributing to greater visibility of the challenges they face, which may help to inform future policies and practices aimed at developing more inclusive and supportive academic workplaces.
The findings from this project will be shared with participants. You will be able to request a summary of the research findings.
I am interested - what should I do next?
