Northpine Christian College's ``confident'' plan to boost Apex Caboolture's social media followers secured the school first place in this year's hotly contested QUT Student Business Competition.

Held at QUT's Caboolture campus last week (April 19), the competition demanded 12 teams of Year 12 students create a marketing plan to help the Apex club recruit new members. The winners were announced yesterday (April 23).

QUT Business School Associate Professor Carol Dalglish said the overall standard of the presentations was impressive.

"The best ideas were strongly related to areas that Apex Caboolture was already doing, but not doing well, so progress could be made quickly and inexpensively - important for a not-for-profit organisation,'' Assoc Prof Dalglish said.

"One of the purposes of the competition is make potential students aware of the opportunities offered by the Caboolture campus in the area of business. We hope that many of them will enrol in the future.''

Apex Caboolture Club secretary Amanda Senior said Northpine's confidently delivered plan impressed the panel of judges. It included a revamp of their Facebook page, a strategy to involve work experience students in their work, and to develop an online membership application tool.

"The future of business is in safe hands,'' Ms Senior said of the calibre of ideas presented.

"Northpine's win had a lot to do with their confident presentation. They had some great ideas - they listened to the brief and were spot on.''

She said many of the ideas from all the school teams would be presented to the club for consideration.

Northpine Christian College, Dakabin, was crowned winner, while Grace Lutheran College, Caboolture, came second. St Columbans College, Caboolture, secured third place. The winners shared in a $50,000 prize pool.
