QUT has released a new Campus Master Plan, setting out an ambitious, future-focused direction to shape how the university’s campuses will continue to evolve to support learning, research, work and connection.

Informed by consultation with staff and students, the plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the QUT community and strengthens the university’s role in Brisbane’s knowledge corridor, aligning with major city-shaping initiatives and state priorities.

The Campus Master Plan positions the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses as vibrant, collaborative hubs that foster innovation, creativity and real-world impact, while ensuring QUT’s physical environment remains people-centred, flexible and future-focused.

QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Sheil said the Campus Master Plan sets out a bold, long-term vision for how the campuses will support the way people learn, work and connect, now and into the future.

“By aligning with Brisbane’s broader growth and development strategy, the Campus Master Plan ensures QUT remains accessible, future-ready and central to the city’s economic, social and cultural life.

“With the QUT Kelvin Grove campus neighbouring exciting development for Brisbane 2032, this plan complements the Victoria Park redevelopment and other city-shaping initiatives.”

The Campus Master Plan emphasises collaboration and engagement through visible research and learning spaces, flexible environments to support hybrid work, and new opportunities for industry partnerships and commercial initiatives that enable long-term sustainability and reinvestment into teaching and research.

The plan has been developed through genuine partnerships with Indigenous Australian people, grounding both campuses in Country and honouring Turrbal and Yugara cultural connections to place.

It also provides a clear framework for safer, more connected campuses, with a strong focus on walkability, accessibility, clear arrival points, enhanced lighting and improved wayfinding across both locations.
