QUT has posted its strongest performance in a ranking of the world’s top universities, rising 33 places to be named in the top 13 per cent of ranked universities around the world.

The 20th annual QS World University Rankings measures defined performance indicators of more than 1500 tertiary institutions.

QUT rose to equal 189th place in the rankings, underpinned by core strengths in sustainability and international collaborations which were included as performance indicators for the first time this year, as well as growth in the university’s academic reputation.

“Everything we do is designed around supporting students on their path to lifelong learning through education and research, in partnership with business and industry and informed by student demand and the employment market more generally,” QUT Vice-Chancellor, Professor Margaret Sheil AO, said.

“This is a strong performance by QUT and we will continue to strive for excellence as we follow our strategic plan to provide transformative education, student experiences and research that is relevant to our communities.”

Professor Sheil said exclusive collaborations with local, national and international partners including BMW, Sealy Australia and the MIT Sloan School of Management show how QUT is continuing to prioritise academic exchanges to enhance student engagement and real world outcomes.

Sustainability is embedded throughout the university as a core pillar of Connections – the QUT Strategy 2023 to 2027 and QUT will launch new sustainability-focused engineering degrees next year to enable graduates to be job-ready to take lead roles in industry as Queensland transitions to renewable energy.

The best that QUT has to offer will be on display when the university opens both its Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses to the public on July 30 for QUT Open Day.
