Adrienne Pickering is about to become Warwick's biggest export to the world of TV.
The QUT acting graduate, who farewells the university this month, has landed a job on All Saints where she will share the screen with the likes of Georgie Parker and Tammy McIntosh.
Adrienne, 22, will play a relative of one of the medical drama's regular cast members for 10 episodes.
She will begin filming in late October but won't appear in the popular Seven Network show until next year.
Like many of her fellow actors in the Queensland University of Technology's "class of 2003", Adrienne's passion lies with the "powerful" nature of theatre.
But she said gaining work on All Saints was an amazing opportunity and very exciting.
She flew to Sydney to audition for the role in late August after being spotted in the QUT production of La Ronde earlier that month.
"It's just a great opportunity to learn about TV and being on set and acting for the camera," she said.
"To be given that chance straight out of uni is fantastic - it's all a learning curve."
But despite always having a passion for acting, it took a while for Adrienne to believe it was a realistic career goal.
After completing high school at Warwick, south of Brisbane, she enrolled in a science degree at the University of Queensland.
"I was interested in psychology and marine science at that stage - or thought I was," she said.
After a year she realised science was not for her and
instead decided to "bite the bullet" and audition for a much sought-after spot in QUT's Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting).
Just 10 actors will complete the course this month and perform graduate showcases in Brisbane and Sydney.
"What, I think, makes our year really special is that we're a bunch of totally different individuals ... I think that's what makes us really strong," Adrienne said.
"You go through a lot together."
With parents who are school teachers, a musician brother and a sister studying social work, Adrienne admits she's probably "a bit of a black sheep".
But she said her supportive family were creative and close-knit.
And after leaving Warwick to live in Brisbane while at university, acting is now taking her further away.
Adrienne said she would move to Sydney this month and stay in the city to further her career after her All Saints commitment ended in late January.
Ultimately, she would love to work with a state theatre company.
The young actor said one of the best pieces of advice she would take with her from QUT (and Shakespeare) was a classic: to thine own self be true.
"I think you've just got to stick to your guns and remember where you're coming from and what you have to offer and where, inside, you can tell stories from," she said.
