QUT teaching empowers future teachers with the skills to support all learners. Through evidence-based strategies, students learn how to tailor their teaching to suit a wide range of needs, whether it’s catering to diverse strengths, interests and needs, inclusive planning, or trauma-informed approaches.

“These experiences taught me how to adapt my teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students and how to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.”

— Chloe Aldred, Master of Teaching

QUT teaching and education degrees have units that will prepare you for teaching a range of diverse learners. You will develop specialist knowledge based on current research. Through inclusive classroom practices, you will be able to effectively engage students who have a variety of learning needs.

Learning through experience

The course combines theory with real-world practice. Students gain practical experience in diverse learning environments, working alongside experienced educators and learning how to respond to the diverse strengths, interests and needs of individual children. This practical exposure builds confidence and competence, preparing graduates to step into their teaching careers, ready to make a difference.

“Prac was definitely one of the best things I've done. I was able to learn a lot about behaviour management, lesson planning, and how to support students who may have additional needs.”

— Ben McLeish, Bachelor of Education

Professional experience

Professional experiences are placements in real classrooms and education settings, designed to help prepare you to become a teacher. These experiences help you to develop your capabilities as you progress through the course.
