Chloe Aldred teaching primary students in classroom

When you start a teaching course at QUT, you’ll quickly realise it’s more than just lectures and assignments. You’ll be stepping into a course that blends theory and practice in a way that’s both rewarding and enjoyable.

If you’re passionate about helping students express themselves creatively, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to bring that to life.

You’ll build a strong foundation in educational principles and learn how they apply to your teaching area, whether that’s drama, film, science or anything else. You’ll explore how students learn, how to design inclusive lessons, and how to create environments where creativity and critical thinking thrive.

But what you’ll probably enjoy most are the practical experiences - the placements you’ll do in schools.

Chloe Aldred, Master of Teaching graduate, (pictured right) says, "These pracs allowed me to apply what I learned in real classroom settings, interact with students, and see the impact of my teaching firsthand. It was during these placements that I truly felt the excitement and fulfillment of being an educator."

These real-world experiences will help you build confidence, refine your teaching style and understand what it’s really like to be in front of a class. You won’t just be learning about teaching, you’ll be doing it.

"The strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching enabled me to create engaging and effective learning experiences for my students. The projects and school placements provided real-world experience that has boosted my confidence and competence in the classroom."

Once you graduate, you’ll be ready to lead learning in your own classroom. Chloe now teaches drama and film, and she uses the skills she gained at QUT every day to help students express themselves, explore ideas and think critically.

Chloe told us, "My career goals include continuing to inspire and support my students, contributing to the development of innovative teaching methods, and integrating drama and film into broader educational contexts. Ultimately, I aim to make a lasting positive impact on my students' lives, helping them discover their own passions and potential."

If you’re thinking about becoming a teacher, QUT will give you the tools, experiences and support to make it happen. You’ll be challenged, inspired and prepared to make a real difference.
