The impact of our research
QUT’s intellectual property has delivered many successful outcomes, including the creation of companies and the commercialisation of new technologies:
- Aptium.AI - novel commercial scanning technology, incorporating AI and 3D/4D photogrammetry, to deliver solutions across healthcare, industrial and manufacturing.
- Bovotica - modulating the rumen microbiome of the bovine, delivering a reduction in methane emissions for the environment and an increase in production efficiency for the farmer.
- Earthodic - enabling the manufacture of strong, water-resistant paper packaging that can be repulped and recycled, using bio-based ingredients.
- Kimaritec - developing new therapies for cancer, by manipulating the body’s protein recycling pathway to drive protein degradation of critical oncoproteins.
- Lava Blue - providing high purity, high value specialty materials for the energy transition.
- RAMSR (Rhythm and Movement for Self Regulation) - a program for young children that aims to support their attentional and emotional self-regulation skills, as well as mental flexibility, inhibition, and working memory (executive function).
- VALD - a range of tools allowing you to measure, monitor and improve nearly any major musculoskeletal function.
- VitroGro® - a biotechnology platform that provides wound healing, tissue repair and cell culture technology.

Seven QUT staff have been recognised internationally with the Entrepreneurial Leadership Team of the Year award at the Triple E Awards, recognising their commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration.
QUT Excolo! Grand Final Winners Announced
ASTRO has been announced as Champion of the QUT Excolo! pitching competition Grand Final for 2025.Professor Will Browne introduced ASTRO, the Upper Arm Active Stroke Rehabilitation Orthotic; a device being designed to improve post-stroke rehabilitation outcomes and reduce strain on healthcare systems.The project will now receive up to $100,000 in investment funding through the university’s Industry Engagement Fund (IEF).
