Dean's Scholars Program

The Dean’s Scholars Program is the flagship leadership and development program for high-achieving students of the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science. These students are identified as being the future leaders and game changers in STEM. They are chosen based on:

  • demonstrated leadership skills and completion of innovation and development units
  • involvement in co-curricula activities, voluntary work and student clubs
  • academic achievements of a GPA of 6.0 or above (on a 7.0 scale)
  • professional ambitions.

Together with our sponsors, we foster leadership in STEM-linked careers through industry-led experiences, international exchange programs, professional development and mentoring.

Dean's Scholars alumni

Our Science and Engineering Alumni of the Dean's Scholar's (SEADS) Program brings together both graduates and current Dean's Scholars. SEADS drives networking and professional development opportunities through events between alumni members, industry and QUT.

  • opportunities to connect with the QUT community, government, industry and the academic sector as a key faculty partner.

QUT Women Engineers program

The QUT Women Engineers program plays a crucial role in empowering and supporting women in the pursuit of engineering education and careers. Through flagship events, funding opportunities, industry connections, and mentoring, the program helps create a more inclusive and supportive environment where women can thrive and make significant contributions to the engineering industry.

Student Catchment Immersion Program

The Student Catchment Immersion Program (SCIP) is a co-curricular activity that provides the opportunity for QUT Engineering and Science students to learn about the local environment and the role of Brisbane catchment groups. Since 2016, the program has connected students with community-based catchment groups to learn about preservation and restoration of these important urban ecosystems. The program combines a reflective workshop (concerning local place and identity, understanding the local environment, and leadership for the environment) with hands-on volunteer experiences in four different catchment groups in Brisbane. Through these activities students gain knowledge of the way catchment groups operate and are encouraged to continue volunteering in the local catchments, both in on-the-ground projects and at a governance level.
