Dr Nicholas Buttle
Faculty of Science,
School of Mathematical Sciences
Biography
Nicholas studied Applied and Computational Mathematics at QUT and has earned his Bachlor, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in the field. His research was focused around the mathematical modelling of ship waves and utilising time-frequency analysis to investigate the characteristics of the wakes. He is now in a teaching intensive position in the School of Mathematical Sciences, where he teaches linear algebra and computational explorations to mathematics students as well as the introductory and advanced engineering mathematics to engineering students.
Nicholas is the First Year Coordinator for the Bachelor of Mathematics and Bachelor of Data Science. He runs weekly support sessions for students in their early years of their degrees, where students can find both academic and personal support as well as opportunities to connect with other students and university staff.
