Dr Lionel Rayward
Faculty of Engineering,
School of Mech., Medical & Process Engineering
Biography
Lionel Rayward is a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). During his Bachelor of Engineering (Medical), Lionel took on a research Internship applying 3D modelling techniques to reconstruct blood vessels. Lionel took these computational modelling skills and applied them in his role as a research assistant at the Biomechanics and spine research group working on a collaborative project with Sealy Australia. Lionel became fascinated with sleep ergonomics and comfort and took on a PhD to apply his computational modelling knowledge to pursue further research questions. Lionel has since developed a computational model to predict deep tissue stresses in supine lying, and it is being used to understand how mattresses can be designed to reduce these stresses.Personal details
