An emphasis on handcraft and a diversity of material mark highly creative designs from 27 fashion students on the runway next week at the annual QUT graduate showcase(November 18-20).

Handwoven fabrics, laser cut plastic, PVC, hand painted and printed - they've all been put together in the show MUSE//REFRACTED a "beautifully executed creative explosion of fashion innovation", says QUT head of fashion Kathleen Horton.

"These collections illustrate QUT's commitment to innovation and creativity," Ms Horton said.

"Our students have been coached by Australian fashion designers Lydia Pearson and Mark Neighbour and international ones like Icaro Ibanez and art curator Alison Kubler to ensure each finds their own creative voice," Ms Horton said.

Fantasy fur, PVC, and over-sized, laser cut sequins mark the hybrid collection of subtly coloured and textured couture and active wear from Alice Waterhouse.

"Our students have been coached by Australian fashion designers Lydia Pearson and Mark Neighbour and international ones like Icaro Ibanez and art curator Alison Kubler to ensure each finds their own creative voice," Ms Horton said.

Among the collections on show are:

Fantasy fur, PVC and over-sized, laser cut sequins mark the hybrid collection of subtly coloured and textured couture and active wear by Alice Waterhouse.

Hannah Dalglish's collection explores memories and feelings with hand-painting techniques and integrated wearable technology.

An exploration of felting, printing, weaving is found in a multi-layered collection by Louise Vincenzino while Arkie Barton's collection draws on her Indigenous heritage.

Tom Cowley has used a wide range of craft detailing such as hand-weaving and printing in his menswear collection.
