QUT is proud to serve as the new custodian of Meanjin, Australia’s most eminent literary journal, welcoming it back to Brisbane 80 years after its move to Melbourne.
Meanjin will enrich the vibrant, high-quality creative writing program within the QUT School of Creative Arts.

Supporting new Australian writing
As Meanjin begins this exciting new chapter at QUT, it is commissioning fresh work from Australian writers. Regular publication will resume online in August 2026, followed by a special print edition marking Meanjin’s 85th volume to be published in December this year.
Meanjin pays contributors for all work published online and in print and is proud to pay ASA rates.
Your support will help fund these fees, enabling the journal to continue commissioning exceptional new writing and sharing this with readers across Australia.
Establishing editor
Award-winning writer and former Griffith Review editor Dr Ashley Hay was appointed Meanjin’s establishing editor in April 2026. She will guide the publication of new work and play a key role in shaping the journal's future at QUT.
