QUT is the new custodian of Meanjin, Australia's most eminent literary journal, bringing the publication back to Brisbane 80 years after it relocated to Melbourne.
Meanjin will complement the focused, high-quality creative writing program within the QUT School of Creative Arts.

QUT has appointed Dr Ashley Hay as Establishing Editor of Meanjin. Known for her award-winning writing and tenure as editor of Griffith Review,the respected figure in Australian literary publishing will lead publication of new writing and support the journal's transition to QUT –including recruitment of a permanent editor – over the next 12 months.
QUT and the Establishing Editor will take time to thoughtfully re-establish the journal in Queensland and consider how to most effectively reinvigorate Meanjin, respecting the journal's founding vision and literary legacy while enhancing its relevance and rebuilding of readership to ensure a viable future.
QUT anticipates online publication of Meanjin will resume later this year, with a physical 85th-volume edition planned for later in 2026.
