KAB250 Open Studio: Installation and Exhibition

This unit is focused on developing independent practice in the context of the open studio - expanding across experimental 2D, 3D and 4D media. This studio-based investigation is situated within the wider cultural, theoretical and institutional contexts of contemporary art. Artists explore site-responsive and context-specific ways of working, expanded approaches to materiality, process and scale, and diverse modes of engaging audiences. In the studio and gallery, you will develop practical skills in installing your artworks and presenting exhibitions with a focus on materiality, site and audience. Emphasis is placed on creative inquiry, critical reflection and experimental making, culminating in a folio of artworks and an Open Studio exhibition that reflects your evolving artistic practice.

Previous study requirements

Prerequisites: 24cp of completed study from KAB1% or KVB% units
Assumed knowledge: KAB110 and portfolio of experimental artworks across 2D ( KAB120), 3D ( KAB130) and 4D ( KAB140) art; introductory knowledge of modern and contemporary art.
