54 teams across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales participated in this year's QUT School of Law's High School Moot competition.
Competitors are provided with a fictional client problem and must prepare written and oral arguments to present to real-world judges and lawyers.
Teams presented their cases at QUT Gardens Point from 31 July to 1 August, with the top four teams advancing to the finals on 2 August, held in QUT School of Law’s newly refurbished moot courts.
“Mooting is a great opportunity for high school students in years 11 and 12 to engage with law at a university level, and to make meaningful connections with QUT staff and the campus,” said Associate Professor James Duffy, who facilitates QUT’s mooting program.
“The standard of high school student mooters was impressive again this year.”
“Students were able to test their advocacy skills in front of Crown Prosecutors, private practitioners, academics and experienced law student mooters,” he said.
Brisbane Girls Grammar School took home the 2026 QUT High School Moot Champions title.
"Winning QUT's High School Moot Competition was a tremendous achievement that reflects our students' dedication, teamwork and intellectual rigour," said Katey Daley, Mooting Manager at Brisbane Girls Grammar School.
"Many girls at Brisbane Girls Grammar School go on to pursue a career in the Law."
"QUT, and the sponsors of the competition provided a valuable opportunity to experience what such a career might look like."
"The mooting judges were generous with their encouragement of the girls and shared inspiring stories of their own journeys."
