What is the purpose of this research?
The purpose of this research project is to understand community views about relationship interactions in couples and what is considered 'acceptable'.
Are you looking for people like me?
You are invited to participate in this research project if you:
- live in Queensland
- are aged 18 or over
- do not possess focused professional expertise in domestic violence and have not worked in a domestic violence organisation
- have not taken part in a previous study of the same project.
What will you ask me to do?
Participation will involve completing a 20mins online survey. You will be shown hypothetical scenarios and asked about your views on the relationship interactions. Depending on your reading speed and the amount of time you prefer to spend reflecting on the scenario and questions, it may take a little longer (e.g. up to around 25-30mins).
Are there any risks for me in taking part?
There are some risks associated with your participation in this research project.
There may be some discussion of domestic violence and abuse. This is a sensitive topic and it is possible that such discussions may cause you to experience and/or revisit discomfort or distress. If you feel concerned that this may occur, consider if you are comfortable in participating.
You may choose to discontinue participation by closing your internet browser.
All responses and comments will remain anonymous.
If you do not complete the survey, be aware that any partially completed data will still be included in the research study, as it will not be possible to identify and remove individual responses due to the anonymous nature of the survey.
Are there any benefits for me in taking part?
It is expected that this research project will not benefit you directly. However, the study aims to gain a greater understanding about community views of couple relationships and may lead to the development of awareness-raising initiatives to promote respectful relationships.
Will I be compensated for my time?
To thank you for your contribution if you choose to participate, the research team is offering you a chance to win one of four $100 GiftPay e-vouchers.
I am interested - what should I do next?
