What is the purpose of this research?

The aim of this project is to investigate the gender pay gap in the Australian financial industry, with a particular focus on the experiences of women in executive positions. This project will help improve understanding of the experiences of women in the industry and the factors that contribute to the gender pay gap.

Are you looking for people like me?

We are interested in hearing from women who have experience working in the financial industry, particularly in senior roles such as senior executives, C-suites executives, executive directors, or managing directors.

We are also seeking insights from recruiters, who have experience recruiting in the financial industry.

What will you ask me to do?

Participate in an interview lasting about 45-60mins, depending on your availability. The interview can be conducted face-to-face, online (Google Meet, Zoom, Teams), or by phone. The interview will be audio recorded with the consent of participants.

You will be asked questions about your experiences in the financial industry, including challenges, biases or unequal treatment you have encountered, and your views on remuneration.

Are there any risks for me in taking part?

There are no anticipated risks associated with this project. Participant may experience some discomfort when reflecting on past experiences, however, you may skip any questions you are not comfortable answering.

Participating in the interview may also cause minor inconvenience, such as finding time within your busy schedule. To minimise this, the interview will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time and conducted via your preferred medium (face-to-face, online, or by phone).

Are there any benefits for me in taking part?

The findings from this project will be shared with participants. This project will benefit women working in the financial industry by contributing to greater visibility of the challenges they face.

Will I be compensated for my time?

There is no direct compensation for participating in this project.
