About us

The eResearch team within Research Portfolio exists to empower researchers through technology, training, and support. As part of our technology services, we operate and maintain the centrally funded QUT Supercomputer, a 10,000-core high-performance computer available to all researchers.

Our team consists of platform and software engineers, bioinformaticians, project delivery specialists, and training and support specialists.

We recognise the critical role that technology plays in modern research and understand that well-maintained technology can have a profound impact on the quality and accuracy of research results.

Supercomputing

We provide sophisticated computing capabilities and support, from bespoke custom cloud solutions to a dedicated high-performance computing cluster.

Research data storage

Safe and secure large storage for all QUT research data.

Research virtual workstations

We offer access to research software and increased computing power from anywhere through our Research Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (rVDI), accessible from any internet-connected computer.

Software development

We help researchers develop new software platforms and data visualisation tools, and advise on how to pick the right software stack.

Hosting services

We plan, deliver and support open-source and research-developed applications and support deploying them to a cloud provider or internally, depending on requirements and application.

Project development and delivery

We support researchers with project initiation and execution, including gathering requirements, facilitating workshops, clarifying scope, and delivering bespoke IT.

Bioinformatics

We support, enable, drive, and promote hypothesis- and data-driven discoveries tackling real-world challenges in biomedical sciences, agriculture, environment, and biotechnology. We work closely with researchers to solve biological questions and provide tailored end-to-end data analysis solutions, training, and support to advance research programs.

Custom health software solutions

We deliver custom health software solutions and technical support on a wide range of external and internal research programs, including XNAT, redcap, GASR and MiNDAUS.
