Nine QUT students have been awarded a prestigious Westpac Young Technologists Scholarship for 2026, a program designed to empower high school graduates to explore technology’s potential for good.
The scholars will receive up to three years of financial support for their studies, networking opportunities, mentoring programs and paid internships with senior business leaders and industry-based experts, as well as the chance to develop critical soft skills through the Disruptive Leaders Program.
The program includes five days in Asia as part of an international learning experience to broaden minds and inspire new ways of thinking.
QUT is one of only five universities nationally, and the only Queensland university, to offer this scholarship, valued up to $20,000.

Professor Mark Harvey, QUT Deputy Vice-Chancellor International and Vice-President (Business Development), said the scholarships would give these students a powerful platform to accelerate their ambitions.
“This scholarship opens doors to experiences that simply can’t be replicated in a classroom. These students will gain global perspectives, build lifelong networks and develop the confidence to lead technological innovation that benefits communities here in Australia and beyond,” Professor Harvey said.
Applications for 2027 scholarships open in late 2026. Prospective students can register their interest to receive updates about application open days and Westpac Scholars’ news.
